  • Maruta – Remain Dystopian

    Sektion: Musik, Neue Releases

Durch Gastauftritte wie Vocals vom legendären Tomas Lindberg (At the Gates, Disfear), Pig Destroyer's J.R.

    Stimmen:
"Vitriolic in delivery and misanthropic in message, Maruta are grind enough for the grindcore fans and deathly enough for the death metal fans, bridging the gap between the two styles with precision and skill." - Blabbermouth
"You won't like this, but you need to hear it immediately." - Decibel
"this band will tear you a new asshole" - MetalSucks Erhältlich ab 12.06.2015 Getaggt mit:

  • Rodhad – Anxious

    Sektion: Musik, Neue Releases

Through Artist Of The Year" interviewte.

  • White Hills – Walks For Motorists (Ltd. Colored Edition)

    Sektion: Musik, Neue Releases

Image: 1595743 White Hills are proponents of psychedelia as transformation. The music made by Dave W. and Ego Sensation is risky and cutting edge, rooted in dystopian futurism and hyperconscious of society’s constant desire for a new and better drug. That progressive aesthetic is at the heart of White Hills’ newest album Walks For Motorists, a radically stripped-down record that emphasizes rhythm and groove. The album bursts forth with a new kind of intensity, one born out of laser-focused precision and detail-oriented songwriting. Possibly surprising to fans familiar with the Hawkwindian guitar squall of earlier albums, the songs on Walks For Motorists began as a keyboard melody or bass line, and several songs on the album don’t even feature guitar at all. This is propulsive, open music, surreal to its core but made to inspire people to get out of their seats and move.
Walks For Motorists was recorded with David Wrench (Caribou, Bear in Heaven, FKA Twigs, Owen Pallet) at Bryn Derwen Recording Studio in Bethesda, Wales which borders the Snowdonia National Forest. The band had 24-hour access to the studio, which allowed them to work whenever inspiration struck. Wrench’s expertise producing and mixing electronic music was an essential asset when perfecting the crisp tones heard throughout the record. This is the first album the band has recorded outside of New York City, and the vast, rolling Welsh landscape that surrounded the studio influenced the album’s uncluttered sound. Walks For Motorists is also White Hills’ most diverse album to date. Fuzzed-out rockers sit comfortably next to kraut-infused grooves, and there are more vocal contributions from Ego than ever before.
White Hills has been developing an entirely new live set focusing on new music, and will be playing many major festivals in 2015, including Roadburn, Primavera, and ATP Iceland. As anyone who has seen the band knows, they can command stages both gargantuan and intimate, and are one of the most legendary live acts in psychedelic rock today. The band’s relentless touring of the US and Europe has gained them a massive grassroots following worldwide, and even more touring is planned throughout 2015.

  • The Moons – Mindwaves (180g)

    Sektion: Musik, Neue Releases

Image: 1589261 ‘Mindwaves’, is the new long player from The Moons. A rich sounding, 21st century, psychedelic space odyssey, it’s full of well-crafted songs and infectious rhythms, steeped in love and destruction, peace and paranoia. Classic pop melodies brim with tight harmonies and layered guitars resulting in a rich and varied collection of songs.

Formed in Northampton 2008, The Moons is the ideas of singer/guitarist/songwriter, Andy Crofts. With two critically acclaimed albums to date, ‘Life On Earth’ (2010) and ‘Fables of History’ 2012 (produced by The Moons and Stay Kybert), The Moons are purveyors of the great British pop song.

Album opener, ‘Luna Intro’, blends Morricone-esque guitars with rhythmic tribal drums and mantra-esque cries before ‘Society’, a futuristic cosmic-rock stomper, whilst not forgetting its rock n’ roll roots, combines rolling drums and flashes of strings, a George Orwell-esque nod to a dystopian vision of the future.

‘Fever’, a snappy, deranged pop song which has Crofts wailing, ‘I’ve got a fever in my brain’, tips its hat to the glam rock era whilst ‘Body Snatchers’ is big, brash, tuneful with thunderous drums and a kaleidoscopic driving beat at its core.

‘Vertigo’ is the sound of a classic science fiction B-movie which rolls along on a laidback sonic groove before ‘All in my Mind’, a dark psychotic ballad with full strings, gothic-sounding harpsichord and unhinged church organ, is The Moons at their most demented state.

‘Heart and Soul’, is flamboyant in its very nature conjuring up images of Bolan and Bowie jamming with Mott the Hoople and Sweet. ‘You Can’t Slow Me Down’ is confrontational rock n’ roll before the psychedelic piano-led ballad ‘Sometimes’, shows Crofts at his contemplative best, singing “Sometimes I feel like I would be better all alone”, a passionate and earnest plea about isolation and loneliness.

‘Time’s not Forever’ is more, modern day, in-your-face, pop/rock n’ roll which The Moons do arguably better than most whilst ‘Rage and Romance’ is glorious, unrestrained decadence with catchy chorus and exquisite arrangement before ‘On the Moon’, a whimsical, dream-like, blissed-out blues track closes the album.

“Mindwaves is a melting pot of melody, love, dreams and nightmares. Its every brick my mind has built over the years, it’s my favourite album!” Andy Crofts / The Moons.

Crofts’ songwriting craftsmanship deals with typical modern day life. With a mixed melting pot of melody, texture and influence, The Moons are honest songwriting personified with exquisite arrangement and glorious production which harks back to a golden era in classic songwriting.

The Moons are: Andy Crofts – Vocals/guitar, Ben Gordelier – Drums, Ben Curtis – Bass and Chris Watson – Guitar. Erhältlich ab 18.07.2014 Getaggt mit:
